Sapphire: The second hardest substance on earth after diamond, Sapphire is another name which we have already familiarized ourselves. Today, it still stands as one of the most sought after gemstone in the world. Though sapphire is typically a blue gemstone variety of the mineral corundum, an aluminium oxide, it can actually be found in a variety of other colors like pink, yellow, orange, green, purple etc. They fall in the category of what is called fancy sapphire. Even though the blue color is regarded as the true sapphire, the fancy colored sapphires that sparkles in an intoxicating shade of pink, yellow, orange, purple are also beautiful beyond words.
